POST 1: What is Photography, you ask ?
Asking oneself what a specific object is or what it does is probably the most common question asked.
We would probably use a search engine to find the answer. It would be mind boggling not to acquire any answers or an idea of what something is, leaving you reckless. Later on, this article would help you answer a question that you probably searched online for.
To start off, the topic is mostly about photography. What is it ? What for ? Why ? As a writer, this article must be filled with pieces of information around the internet which will also summarize some of the answers that are found on the internet.
Photography, in simple terms, it is basically capturing an image. A deeper definition would be capturing light by a sensor or film. And of course that light you have captured contains colors, dimensions, and texture. It is all captured by the sensor or film depending on how a photograph was taken. Photography is most commonly referred to or recognized as capturing a moment or a view that a person would associate with.
Viewing blogs such as Suzanne William's may be sufficient for an answer to what is photography and why we do or practice this. According to Suzanne Williams, "Photographs are amazing. Through photographs, we preserve history". The Landing on the moon, A wedding, The 9/11 . Not to mention photographs also preserve emotions and feelings. A baby's first step, the first kiss on the cheek, or simply a family dinner. Photography is definitely a perfect tool to reminisce an unforgettable scene or memory.
" With a photograph, I can bring someone from his or her spot on the globe to mine. They can stand with me in the midst of a pine forest or walk in hushed silence through the musky light of a swamp. In reverse, though the images of others, I have walked across hot, sandy desserts; I have stood on immense mountaintops, and pushed my way through steamy rainforests", Also from Suzanne Williams. The quoted statement clearly say that through photographs, it brings a person a feeling of where he or she has never been to or as if he or she was with someone very very special.
Taking photographic memories or capturing history doesn't require a high-end camera.
"Your best camera is the one you have with you" - Andrew Harvey.
The photographic documentary on the moon was not taken from a high-end camera when compared with today's high-end. What matters most of a photograph is what you have captured and what you deliver. the composition of the photograph does not depend on the quality of the camera. The photographer has the control on the image.
In conclusion, Photography is way of recording a moment without the use of words. There is no right or wrong in making a composition (although there is a good way and a better way). With this article, hopefully there is enough information to give and idea or even answer the question "what is photography?".
